Southern Classics - 4 days

Discover pristine beaches, secluded Islands, local village life and Vietnam's largest city - Saigon. Get off the tourist trail and explore local side streets in Saigon, weave your way through the dense traffic of Ho Chi Minh City and learn about it's recent turbulent past with a visit to the iconic Cu Chi tunnels just outside the city. Discover the lush Mekong Delta and the mouth watering local cuisine that is famous throughout the country. End your trip in the mystical town of Chau Doc, home to stunning wildlife, mysterious flooded forests and Khmer pagodas deep in the Mekong Delta.

Day 1:    Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels (Join-in)

About 7:45AM – 8:00AM, you will be picked up at your hotel. Depart from Vuon Kieng Pier and enjoy a relaxing trip on speed boat to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels.

The tunnels are 75 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, an area that played an important role during Vietnam's wars for independence and reunification. More than 200 km of tunnels built here by the Vietnamese guerrillas are often the highlight of South Vietnam touring. You can explore the bedrooms, meeting rooms, air-raid shelters, smokeless kitchens, and experience life underground in this extraordinary tunnel complex. When the visit finish, we will get back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 2:    Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho - Can Tho (Join-in)

This morning your guide will pick you up and you will head towards My Tho. During the car trip we will pass along green rice fields that bordered the National Highway.

On arrival to My Tho, we will first visit Ving Trang Pagoda, one of the most known Buddhist temples of the region and owner of a harmonious combination of Asian and European architectures created in the early 19th century.

Then, we will take a leisurely boat ride along the river passing through stilts houses, fruit plantations and a fishing village.

At noon, we will head towards Tortoise Island where we will have lunch in an orchard garden.

We will continue cruising to An Khanh on a hand-rowing sampan passing through water coconut trees along the canal. We will have a short cycling and we will also taste seasonal fruit & honey tea while listening to southern Vietnamese folk music, performed by the locals. We will end our day visiting a local family house where we will taste coconut candy and get a deep insight of local life and farming.

Later, we will head towards Can Tho.

Day 3:    Can Tho - Chau Doc (Join-in)

Take a leisurely boat trip to explore the picturesque tributaries of the Lower Mekong river (Bassac River), then proceed to Cai Rang floating markets, which is the liveliest in the whole region. Wander around the village and meet the friendly local people and experience how to walk through a "Monkey bridge" which is built by only one stem of bamboo.

Visit the orchard garden and stop for lunch in a local restaurant.

Later, we will start driving to Chau Doc. Upon arrival we will head to Tra Su Forest renowned not only for its almost-untouched natural beauty but also its sanctuary of flora and fauna. You will enjoy a boat trip to the forest, where you will immediately feel like you are harmonizing with nature due to all the impressive pictures of cajuputs, the fragrance of the flowers and the sound of birds, insects and animals making people relaxed comfortable.

When the tour finshes, you will be taken to the hotel.
