Moroccan Atlas & Sahara - 11 days

Date palms and breathtaking Kasbahs in Ouarzazate, N'Kob and Ait Benhaddou, perfect sand dunes in the desert of Merzouga, magnificient gorges in Todra, beautiful views of the High Atlas mountains in Imlil, unforgettable spectacles all over exotic Marrakech, you will definitely live an amazing experience with this trip which counts endless different stunning landscapes.

Day 1:    Marrakech

Upon arrival to the airport of Marrakech, you will be transferred to your accommodation. You are free for the rest of the day to explore the city. We strongly recommend a visit of the amazing hectic Jemaa El Fna which comes alive after dark. You will experience a memorable mix of smells, sounds and sights. For dinner, why not try one of the outdoor food stalls which offer a variety of food and for the most adventurous, you can try the snails or the cooked sheep head. You will spend this first night in Marrakech.

Day 2:    Marrakech

Today we are taking you back through Marrakech history! Accompanied by a local guide, a half day walking tour will enable you to discover:
Some of the most important historical sites of Marrakech:Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Medresa, Koutoubia Mosque with its hispano-moorish style which represents one fine Almohad masterpiece (outside only), the famous square Djemaa El Fna
The Old Medina:The Medina is full of intertwining narrow passageways and local shops full of character. Your senses will be reeling in this medieval medina.
The Souks (Markets):A real paradise for shopping lovers, you will find different crafts being sold in different areas of the Souks: Slippers, musical instruments, dried fruit, the leathers goods, lamps and lanterns, wool dyers, the brass and copperware...
This half day tour will be done on foot, since most of the medina is closed to traffic (Should you be staying outside the medina, transport to/from the medina is at your own expense).
NB: If you are willing to visit the famous gardens of Marrakech (Majorelle, Menara), we could arrange a full day guided visit with transport.
The second night will be spent in a hotel in Marrakech.

Day 3:    Marrakech - Ouarzazate

After breakfast, you pick up your car which will be delivered to your hotel. You can then start your journey towards Ouarzazate via the Tiz-n-Tichka pass which offers some beautiful sceneries. Ouarzazate is located on a vast desert plateau and offers a beautiful mix of kasbahs, green valleys and oases. With its variety of landscapes, this city has been the perfect set for shooting movies since 1983. In fact, two renowned worldwide studios are currently running here: CLA Studios and Atlas Corporation Studios. After arrival, you can have lunch then start your visit of two main attractions:
• Kasbah Taourirte which is the Kasbah of the former Caid ‘Glaoui’, most of it has deteriorated but parts of it have been restored by UNESCO and show the grandeur and opulence of the demanding Glaoui family.Getting lost inside this 17th century mud brick built kasbah will take you to a mysterious ancient era.
•Studios: Either CLA or Atlas Corporation or both if you have enough time.
You will spend the night in Ouarzazate.

Day 4:    Ouarzazate - N'kob

You will start your journey right after breakfast. The road from Ouarzazate to N'kob will take you through beautiful sceneries of the Draa valley. No village in Morocco has more kasbahs than N’kob. Palm trees everywhere, old kasbahs everywhere. Spending the night here will enable you to discover some of what this Saghrou region has to offer. After arriving to N'kob, you will be able to have lunch on a terrace offering views of the palm grove and the village of N’kob from one side and the Saghrou mountains from the other side. In the afternoon, a guided walk is scheduled for you to explore the sleepy traditional village of N'kob, the surrounding fields of Henna and some of its Kasbahs. You will spend the night in the village of N'kob.

Day 5:    N'kob - Merzouga

From N'kob to Merzouga, you will pass by Rissani before reaching your hotel in Merzouga. Although you can spend the night at your hotel right at the foot of the dunes, you wouldn't want to miss the unique and magical experience of spending the night in a berber tent in the middle of Erg Chebbi dunes. This will also enable you to ride a camel from your hotel to its appointed bivouacs. Merzouga can only be described as big beautiful sand dunes. The most striking thing is the beautiful changing colours of the dunes. The best time to see these is at sunrise or sunset as the colours change quickly although it's an impressive sight anytime of the day.

Day 6:    Merzouga - Todra Gorges

After breakfast, you will hit the road towards Tinghir and Todra Gorges. Todra Gorges are gigantic rock walls that run through the High Atlas Mountains. Recognised around the world as one of the most spectacular canyons, these gorges offer a majestic scenery. The road that takes you up to the Gorges is simply beautiful with its little berber villages and thick passages of palmeries. Given that a guided walk through the Gorges and Palmery grove is scheduled for the next day, we strongly recommend, if you arrive early to Todra, to visit the village of Tinghir which is a captivating old southern Moroccan village. The must see attractions are Ait El Hadj Ali district, the Jewish quarters, the nearby Kasbah El Glaoui and Ksar Afanour. The night will be spent in Todra/Tinghir.

Day 7:    Todra Gorges - Ait Benhaddou

Right after breakfast, a guided walk though Todra Gorges and Palmery has been arranged for you. After the visit, you will start your journey towards Ait Benhaddou. The road passing by Skoura is truly amazing. You will be able to enjoy views of numerous old Kasbahs and palm groves. After arrival to the picturesque Ait Benhaddou, allow some time to relax on the terrace of your hotel while enjoying the views of the Kasbah and the beautiful surroundings.  Kasbah Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO world heritage site where many famous movies have been shot. With its architectural authenticity and pre-Saharan construction techniques, the mud clay village of Ait Benhaddou will take you back centuries. The night will be spent in a Riad in Ait Benhaddou.

Day 8:    Ait benhaddou - Imlil

From Ait Benhaddou to Imlil passing by Marrakech, the road offers stunning views. Nested in the High Atlas Mountains, the quaint village of Imlil is ideally located near Toubkal mount and a perfect trekking base. You will arrive in the afternoon and spend the night in a gite in the village.

Day 9:    Imlil

A day trekking excursion in the High Atlas Mountains (Imlil region) has been arranged for you right after breakfast. You will spend a second night in the village.

Day 10:    Imlil - Marrakech

Today, you head back to Marrakech. Upon arrival, you should drop off the car at the car rental local office. If you prefer to have it picked up from your hotel, it could be arranged at an extra fee. In the afternoon, you can wander around the Medina and shop for souvenirs in the Souk. You will spend your final night in a hotel in Marrakech.

Espérant pouvoir revenir via 1.2 Go Morocco une autre fois avec un different package.
