Complete Kruger Park Safari - 10 nights

Come and see the diverse wildlife of the famous Kruger National Park. This tour takes you down the length of the park travelling from north to south to take in all the attractions and different eco-systems. Search for Kruger’s big tuskers in the north and search for huge herds of buffalo. Enjoy guided game drives accompanied by experienced rangers who will help you uncover the secrets of the bush.

Experience the thrill of exploring the African bush while on guided walks which allow you to spot some of the regions smaller critters such dassies and dung beetles. The walk is also a great opportunity to enjoy bird watching and learn about the bush.

Watch majestic prides of lions and see white rhino, one of the most endangered animals in Africa. Take in the beauty of the sunset as it paints the sky in a myriad of different hues. Cook your dinner over a campfire and dine out under the stars while listening to the crickets and frogs whose gentle songs fill the night. Fall asleep surrounded by the peace and tranquility of the bush.

Day 1:    Johannesburg
 
 

On the first day you will arrive in the country’s capital Johannesburg where you will be met by one of our representatives who will brief you and take you to your accommodation for the night. You’ll stay in a hotel close to the airport.

Day 2:    Tzaneen (1B)
 
 

In the morning your rental car will be dropped off at the hotel. Heading northwards today you will travel to the town of Tzaneen in the Lowveld. You will pass through the mining and farming regions of the highlands before descending the forested escarpment to the hotter Lowveld which is known for its production of tropical fruit such as citrus and avocados.

Day 3:    Punda Maria Rest Camp, Kruger National Park (1B)
 
 

Start your Kruger National Park safari holiday in the north of the park in the Punda Maria region. This is a great place to see the shy nyala antelope and the region offers some of the best birding in the park. Keep a look out for Africa’s largest antelope eland as well as elephant and buffalo while on game drives in the northern section of the park. This evening you will cook your dinner over an open fire out under the stars.

Day 4:    Shingwedzi Rest Camp, Kruger National Park
 
 

There is no better way to explore the Kruger National Park than experiencing the crisp fresh air and joining the experienced game rangers on the morning game drive. They will share their vast knowledge with you and share some interesting facts about all that lives and breathes in this magnificent piece of Africa. Keep a look out for Kudu and Sharpe’s grysbok among other antelope. (Included).

Then you’ll drive southwards through the Kruger National Park. Travel slowly so that you can take time to enjoy game viewing and keep a look out for rarer large antelope such as roan, sable and tsessebe. On the flood plains towards Shingwedzi many grazing antelope can often be seen, while elephant and buffalo tend to be found in the surrounding Mopani forests. The area is home to some of Kruger’s largest and most impressive elephants.

Day 5:    Letaba Rest Camp, Kruger National Park
 
 

Today, continue southwards to the Letaba Rest Camp half way between the northern and southern boundaries of the Kruger National Park. Visitors need not even have to leave the camp to view animals. The camp itself hosts a healthy population of bushbucks who have become very tame and wander freely amongst the bungalows. Other camp residents include tree squirrels, fruit bats and vervet monkeys.

Day 6:    Satara Rest Camp, Kruger National Park
 
 

Today your destination is the Satara Rest Camp. Satara is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. Comical and ugly warthogs will almost certainly be seen in the area, as will giraffe and wildebeest. This region is home to a large lion population and prides are often seen lounging in the road.

Day 7:    Skukuza
 
 

Today, you’ll travel to Skukuza Rest Camp where you will spend the next two days. This is the parks administrative headquarters and is the largest of the rest camps on the banks of the Sabie River. Prides of lions are often spotted in the region around Skukuza as well as black and white rhino. There is even a population of the rare and endangered African Wild Dogs which inhabit the area.

In the afternoon you will enjoy heading out on a guided walk, a great opportunity to see the regions smaller creatures (Included). You can spend some time relaxing on the deck overlooking the river and seeing what animals come to drink or delve into the fascinating history of the park at the Stevenson Hamilton Memorial library.

Day 8:    Skukuza
 
 

Spend the day heading out on self-guided game drives in search of the famous wildlife of the Kruger National Park. In the afternoon you can relax and make use of the bird hide to enjoy bird watching.

Day 9:    Berg en Dal
 
 

Today you will spend driving to Berg en Dal rest camp. Berg en Dal means 'mountain and dale' and is aptly named for its superb location. The area hosts white rhino, kudu, impala, giraffe, some elephant and warthog. Leopard and wild dogs are also regularly seen in the region. While Berg en dal Rest camp allows for open air cooking, those who prefer a less rugged eating experience can make use of the licensed restaurant and cafeteria with a view across the Matjulu dam.

Day 10:    Departure
 
 

This is the last morning of your Kruger Park from North to South holiday package. There is time for one last early morning self drive game viewing excursion before you go to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to fly home. Alternatively, speak to your consultant about extending your trip.
