Baobabs and Tsingy Adventure - 7 nights

One of the iconic images of Madagascar is its forest of Baobab trees near Morondava. During this tour you get to visit them twice, during the early morning and at sunset when the photographic opportunities will be best. You will explore the Kirindy Forest, one of the best places to see the island’s only significant predator – the foosa. It is also home to the diminutive mouse lemurs and Verreaux Sifakas. Keep a look out for beautiful Schlegel's asity.

You will cruise up the Manambolo river in a traditional canoe called a pirogue passing the stunning granite cliffs. Take in one of the wonders of the natural world at the UNESCO Heritage site of Tsingy de Bemaraha, famous for its spiky peaked rock formations. This is the haunt of many endemic lemurs.

Day 1:    Antananarivo - Morondava
 
 

Your guide will meet you at the Morondava airport and you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure relaxing.

Day 2:    Morondava - Kirindy (1B, 1D)
 
 

It will be an early departure to enjoy the sunrise at the Baobab alley. Then continue to Kirindy where you will stop off at the lodge to check in before spending the morning exploring the forest. Lunch is for your own account. You will enjoy a gentle afternoon walk in search of animals such as giant jumping rats. This is one of the best places to see Fossa’s in Madagascar and brown lemurs. You will also go on a night walk in search of the nocturnally active critters such as Verreaux’s sifakas and several species of mouse lemurs.

Day 3:    Kirindy - Belo Sur Tsiribihna - Bekopaka (1B, 1D)
 
 

After a tasty breakfast at the loge you will drive to Tsimafana and cross by ferry to Belo/Tsiribihina where you will have lunch and continue to Andadoany. You will have a second crossing by ferry on Manambolo river to Bekopaka where you will spend the next three nights.

Day 4:    Bekopaka (1B, 1D)
 
 

You will savour a delicious breakfast at the hotel you will spend a full day exploring the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. It will be a fairly early departure to Grand Tsingy which has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is among the most wonderful National Parks to be visited in Madagascar. This is the biggest protected area of the island. Among the most spectacular sites to be visited in this park is the Grand Tsingy with its different hikes and walk through caves and labyrinths. In the forest canyons, the Tsingy de Bemaraha has its endemic species among the Madagascar wildlife: the Decken’s Sifakas, the Schlegel’s Asity, the local endemic nocturnal mouse Lemurs: the Pygmy mouse Lemurs (Microcebus Myoxinus).

Interests 30 Meter high cracks, forest’s canyon where lives lemurs and birds…where the flora is truly unique with its endemic and medicinal plants, caves, cathedral of rocks, the infinite view on the highest roof of the Big Tsingy…

Day 5:    Bekopaka (1B, 1D)
 
 

You will enjoy breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a canoe (pirogue) tour on the Manambolo River through the towering cliffs of the Manambolo Gorge. Along the way you will visit some caves and see the old tombs of some of the earliest inhabitants in the area.

In the afternoon visit of small Tsingy, which is just next to gorge of the Manambolo River. There will be time for you to explore the labyrinths between the sharp rocks and keep a look out for locally endemic species such as Decken’s Sifaka and red fronted brown lemurs.

Points of Interest: labyrinth of limestone, 2 view points on the limestone pinnacle formation, the biggest Sifaka of the West of Madagascar called Decken’s Sifaka, red fronted brown Lemurs, Birds species, spiders …

Day 6:    Bekopaka - Bel/Tsiribhina - Morondava (1B, 1D)
 
 

After the breakfast you will drive back to Belo sur Tsiribhina. Stopping off for lunch en route before catching the ferry across to Tsiamafana. You will continue back to Morondava, stopping along the way to enjoy baobab valley at sunset.

Day 7:     Morondava - Antananarivo (1B)
 
 

After breakfast at the hotel you will transfer to the airport can catch your flight back to Antananarivo.
